Planning permission secured for independent family-owned business

Acting on behalf of independent family-owned business Pennells, Williams Gallagher has recently secured planning permission for an extension to its Four Seasons Garden Centre in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

Pennells is one of the oldest garden products retailers in the country and is considered to be the oldest garden centre operator that is still family owned being originally founded in 1780 by Richard Pennell. Today, the company is run by Richard Pennell and his son William Pennell, the seventh and eighth generations of the family who were heavily involved in progressing the current development proposals.

This latest chapter in Pennells' evolution will see an extension to its existing centre on the outskirts of Sleaford alongside the reconfiguration of the existing layout to deliver a more legible customer experience and additional sales area.

The proposal also entails improvements to the appearance of the store, an extended restaurant and an improved food hall as well as additional car parking. The proposals will create 30 new jobs and help support the local supply chain of 70 Lincolnshire businesses that provide goods and services to the Pennells garden centres.
